Work goes on to complete a restoration of the Southern Pines Golf Course in Southern Pines, N.C. The Donald Ross layout was acquired by the Pine Needles resort and has the loving attention of its owners to bring the layout back to Ross’ intentions. The work has revealed a “lost” par 3 hole, thanks to close examinations of Ross’ blueprints. Golf writer Mike Purkey filed a story for the Morning Read website on the restoration and the par 3.
