Nelson’s big year in ’45 still raising wonder

In 1945, Byron Nelson was on a tear. The man with the smooth swing won 18 tournaments that year, 11 of them in a row. Some say the strength of the fields in the various events was not that strong as many top golfers were still on active military duty. That’s debatable, and is, ad infinitum. What’s not debatable is that Nelson entered those tournaments, did play strong fields, and time after time, won them.

The PGA Tour asked its writers to discuss Nelson’s stellar season and has published their views for all to see. Click here to see that discussion at PGATour.com.
