On Aug. 12, 2019, Joe Meehan, of Summerville, S.C., succumbed to the effects of bladder cancer. He was an eager participant in the Golf Heritage Society’s first annual meeting this past October 2018 in St. Augustine, Fla., showing no sign of any physical impairment. It was just one of very many Society annuals where he could be found right there in the thick of things. Mr. Meehan’s specialty was American-made hickories. Anyone who contacted him for information about such clubs usually came away well satisfied. His other “specialty” was the 35 years he spent with the National Right to Work Foundation, located at 8001 Braddock Road, Springfield, VA 22151. The family suggests that those who want to honor Mr. Meehan send a donation in his name to the NRTW organization.
