Dr. George “Willie” Gayle, GHS Member No. 4067, passed away in Dayton, Ohio. He had long suffered from Alzheimer’s. A collector of MacGregor golf clubs, Dr. Gayle was a long-time member of both the GHS and the Miami Valley Golf Club and was responsible for the club’s listing on the National Register of Historic Places. He also established the Golf Museum of the Miami Valley located at Miami Valley GC. Dr. Gayle earned his PhD. at The Ohio State University and was a professor at Wright State University where he taught adapted physical education for 30 years before retiring in 2008. He was a dedicated advocate for students with disabilities. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Susan; a sister and brother-in-law.
